Risa Schulman, PhD is a functional food and dietary supplement expert, professional speaker and writer and an industry leader with 18 years of experience at such major industry players as POM Wonderful, Solgar Vitamins and Mars Botanical. She is president and founder of Tap~Root, a New Jersey-based consulting firm, where for the last five years she and her team have assisted ingredient suppliers, manufacturers, start-ups, biotechs, pharma, law firms and investment bankers to succeed in the natural products field. Dr. Schulman has served on several science advisory boards and is a Visiting Scientist at Rutgers University. Tanja Sarett is a seasoned nonprofit and fundraising professional with almost twenty years of international work and leadership experience. Her passion for, and experience in program development, fundraising, PR/marketing, and management has enabled her to revitalize organizations ensuring fiscal and programmatic viability. Tanja holds an M.A. in political science from Munich University, a Diploma in PR from the Bavarian Academy of Advertising & Marketing, a certificate in fundraising & philanthropy from NYU, and a certificate in supervision & management from the Support Center/Partnership in Philanthropy. Boris Kerzhner is a Senior Data Scientist at BookXChange. Combining his experience with Big Data and using many of the tools and techniques he had learned for Bioinformatics he finds answers to some classic questions of customer segmentation, customer lifetime value, fraud detection, profile matching, and awards and rankings just to name a few. Passionate about data science, he is always eager to engage in a discussion around different modeling techniques and algorithms. Dr. Jeffrey P. Cohen
Jeffrey P. Cohen, Ph.D. is a Professor of Economics at the University of Hartford ’s Barney School of Business. He has been a full-time faculty member there since August 2000. Jeffery conducts federally-sponsored and non-profit sponsored research on urban development, real estate, housing, land-use, and environmental economics, with specific emphasis on public policy and business aspects of these areas. He has published over 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and other outlets.
Jeffrey Cohen, Ph.D. teaches several classes, including graduate (MBA) and undergraduate level economics classes (such as Urban Economics, Managerial Economics, Environmental Economics, Quantitative Methods in Business, and Principles of Economics).
In addition to his work at the University of Hartford, Dr. Cohen has been a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, from 2001-2008. His close, ongoing collaboration has continued with the Bank’s Senior Vice President and Policy Adviser to the President, Cletus C. Coughlin, Ph.D. Dr. Cohen’s other consulting clients have included the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, the OECD, the Vancouver International Airport Authority, the Ellison Institute at Harvard University, the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Center for Metropolitan Transportation at the California State University-Long Beach, Standard & Poor’s, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, the Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of Sciences.
Edward H. Schulman
Mr. Schulman joined the Hiring Solutions Group team to work with start-ups and more developed engineering and construction companies to help define who they are looking for and how that person can bring them to their goals. As a professional engineer, Ed works as both a consultant and working with us as part of our RWTI program
Focusing on our Engineering and senior corporate positions, Ed bring his years of experience and wisdom from GE’s R&D center; propulsion, power systems, and consumer products along with his impressive education.
Ed is a Licensed Professional Engineer and Corporate Executive. He holds Engineering Degrees from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and Rensselaer and an MBA from New York University. Other Post Graduate studies were completed at Carnegie-Mellon, the University of Pittsburgh and General Electric’s Management Development Center, Crotonville. His first 10 years of professional work were in cutting-edge developments in propulsion and power systems. He transitioned to working on consumer products after working at General Electric’s R&D center in Schenectady, NY, over a period of 11 years. It was at General Electric where he obtained his first line management position. For the next 15 years, Ed was a Corporate Officer in two industrial products companies with full responsibility for the engineering function and, on occasion, P&L responsibility for selected product lines.
